FOR EMPLOYERS

1) Who sponsors this fair?
12 colleges and universities in Maryland work collaboratively to sponsor the Maryland Career Consortium Career Fair. A representative from each college career center participates on the steering committee and works on site at the fair. The sponsors include: College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Coppin State University, Goucher College, Johns Hopkins University, Loyola University Maryland, Mc Daniel College, Morgan State University, Mount St. Mary's University, Stevenson University, Towson University, University of Baltimore and University of Maryland, Baltimore County

2) Who attends the fair?
Up to 1500 students and alumni from all 12 consortium institutions attend and in addition students from over 30 other colleges and universities.

3) When should I plan to leave the fair?
The fair is heavily advertised from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Please remain at the fair until 3:30 p.m. to ensure that you connect with the largest number of candidates. Many candidates attend the fair around their class and work schedules and make plans to attend the fair later in the day.

4) What can I expect to happen at the fair?
Most employers talk individually to candidates about their job openings, career opportunities and the hiring process. Many provide information about company benefits, relocation information, and the communities in which they live and work. Candidates are there to get information, market their skills and identify contacts for future correspondence. Many will drop off resumes and follow up with you later.

5) If I make a mistake on the information I input about my company and realize it later, how do I correct it?
You may access your profile at any time by using your ID and password. However, keep in mind that your profile will be downloaded into the job fair directory on February 4, 2011. This version will be published; therefore all editing should be completed by February 2nd!

6) If I can't pay by credit card, where can I mail a check? To whom is it payable?
A check made payable to MCC should be mailed to MCC c/o, Loyola Career Center, 4501 N. Charles Street. Baltimore MD 21210. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOUR REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE AND YOUR COMPANY IS NOT GUARANTEED A BOOTH UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED, AND YOU HAVE RECEIVED CONFIRMATION. 7) If I have questions, whom should I call?
Most questions can be answered by reviewing the website, but if you can't find the answer to your specific question, contact Jen Rowley, jrowley@loyola.edu.edu 410-617-5167 or one of the steering committee members listed on the website welcome page.

8) What is the registration fee?
The standard registration fee is $575.00. The registration fee for non-profits is $350.00 and government agencies is $450.00. Space is limited your registration is not guaranteed until payment is received.

9) What is the difference between a "Career Fair" and a "Job Fair?"
A job fair is an opportunity for a variety of employers and students to connect as a means of finding a part-time or full-time job, whether it is career-related or not and which may not require a college degree. A career fair is an opportunity for employers and students to connect as a means of filling/finding a professional job or internship. Professional jobs are those that require some college education or lead to a professional position.

10) What happens in the case of inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather, the MCC must abide by LOYOLA UNIVERSITY'S campus closing policies. If Loyola is closed, the MCCCF will be cancelled. In the event of a cancellation, the snow date for the fair will be April 1, 2011.

11) What if we have special needs?
Anyone requiring special accommodations should contact Jen Rowley at 410.617.5167 or jrowley@loyola.edu.

12) Where should I send my recruitment materials?
If you would like to ship your materials, space at Loyola is limited, but we will do our best to accomodate all employers.

13) Will I have access to the internet?
Yes, if your computer has a wireless card, you will have access to Loyola's server. However, no ethernet connection will be available.

14) Do I need a parking pass?
An arrangement has been reached to provide parking for employers at the MCCCF. Registered employers will have one space per company and will need to check in with a parking attendant to park.

15) What are the sponsorship levels and how do I become a sponsor?

PLATINUM- $10,000 +

GOLD- $3,000 +

SILVER - $2,000 +
  • Ad Fair booklet - full page -

BRONZE- $1,000 +

FOR CANDIDATES

1) Do I need to register to attend the fair?
There is no need to preregister; just sign in at the candidate registration desk on the day of the fair.

2) What should I wear?
Professional dress is expected. Suits are recommended for women and men. Men should wear ties. There are no accommodations for hanging coats. If possible, leave outerwear in the car.

3) What should I bring?
Bring at least 20 professional copies of your resume, pens, a folder or briefcase. Loyola University and the MCC are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

4) Where should I park?
For information about parking on Loyola University's campus, including locations and rates, please visit http://www.loyola.edu/Undergraduate/Become-Greyhound/Visit/transportation-and-parking.aspx.

Available parking is not guaranteed. Please contact your institution’s Career Center for information about shuttle service. The CollegeTown Shuttle is also available for participating schools.

5) How do I find out what employers will attend the fair?
Log on to this website and check under Attending Employer Profiles. The list is updated weekly.
